Abstract
Distributed Generation (DG) by use of renewable energy sources is gaining great importance in these days due to various reasons. Wind energy is widely accepted due to technology advancements and low investments compared to other renewable sources. The present day distribution systems are highly polluted due to technology advancements and non-linear loads. The harmonics due to these non-linear loads have serious impact on the performance and operation of generators used in the wind farms. On the other hand, the wind farms must comply with the grid codes imposed by grid operators. This paper presents a Shunt-Series controller to overcome these integration barriers. The controller with the test system is developed and tested in the simulation tool of MATLAB/Simulink. The shunt controller blocks the harmonics while giving the Fault ride through capability by required reactive power support for the wind farm by varying the dc-link voltage ...
