Abstract
Abstract— Recent developments in nanotechnology are useful in many areas of engineering and science. The use of nano fluid additives in compression ignition engines (CI) is one of the emerging areas. Because, fuel consumption and emissions are growing concern in compression ignition engines. The biodiesel fuelled CI engine emits more oxides of nitrogen and smoke. It also consumes more fuel. The objectives of the paper are to critically review the results of recent research papers on nano fluid additives in CI engines. It also reports the comparative analysis of evaporation, performances and emissions characteristic using various nano fluid additives in CI engines. It analyses the effect on properties, method of nano fluid preparation, composition of base fuel (diesel and biodiesel) and suspension stability.
