A New Islanding Detection Algorithm for Wind Turbine Equipped By a Self Excited Induction Generator

Abstract
This paper proposes a new islanding detection. Proposed anti islanding protection algorithm is based on frequency and phase variation during islanding. A signal called as Zero Crossing Time Difference, ZCDT is obtained. During islanding, ZCDT varies and islanding will be detected. The main benefit of the proposed method is simple mathematical operations. No special hardware or software is needed. Effectiveness and great capability of this new method is simulated and shown. In despite of previous methods, proposed algorithm is insensitive to other phenomena and no false trip is seen. No additional hardware and no complicated processing are needed. The proposed algorithm is quite implementable to nowadays power systems. A 0.66MW/ 690V wind turbine is simulated and modeled in MATLABSIMULINK.  Index Terms— Anti islanding protection, islanding, false tripping, NDZs, wind turbine
