A New Approach for Finding Effective Load Control Strategy to Keep Demand Balanced with Generation in Smart Grids

Abstract This paper presents a new approach for finding effective load control strategy in order to keep the demand in balance with generation in smart grids. This balance can keep the smart grid secure and reliable with cost-effective advantages for consumers. This approach consisted of three steps: 1) modeling of loads, 2) considering a set of initial load control strategy and 3) finding the optimal load strategy using genetics algorithm. To evaluate effectiveness of the proposed approach, a case study is considered. In the case study, after load modeling and considering set of initial control strategies, optimal load control strategies are achieved using an evolutionary algorithm. To verify the obtained load control strategies, simulations using MATLAB software to evaluate their impact on demand patterns are performed.
