A Modified Symmetric-Hybrid Multilevel Inverter for High Voltage Applicatio

Abstract
A new symmetric topology has been proposed in this paper to deliver high power and voltage for hybrid vehicles. This proposed symmetric multilevel inverter has reduced number of switching devices for a required number of output voltage levels in comparison with cascade H-bridge inverter and other topologies. A hybrid topology derived from this proposed topology is utilized for high voltage operations with fewer components which results in the reduction of switching losses, installation area and converter cost. MATLAB/SIMULINK software is used to simulate and validate the proposed theory. Index Terms—multilevel inverters, Cascaded H-bridge, THD, Bi-directional switch
