Approximate Designing of Blade of Axial Pump by Steel and Composite Material

Abstract
Profile of the blade of a pump is usually airfoil. Airfoils are hard to manufacture and expensive, but they have high efficiency. Because of wide application of pumps in industry, in this paper, a simple method for designing airfoil of an axial pump has been presented. In this method, the blade of the pump has been simulated with a cantilever beam with rectangular cross section and thickness of it for steel material has been calculated by means of modified Goodman criterion. Then, the rectangular cross section is approximated with a proper airfoil of NACA series. This process is repeated for composite material by similar methods.
