Abstract
in the present paper, layup of the maximum strength of laminated composites with free edges under extension was optimized by bees algorithm (BA). Interlaminar stresses are considered for estimating the strength of laminates. Indeed, the optimization of interlaminar stresses in symmetric laminates under uniaxial loading is studied. For achieving this goal, two laminates are considered: laminates with free straight edges, and laminates with circular holes. An analytical technique proposed by Zhang et al.[1] is used to calculate mechanically induced edge effect stresses at free boundaries of laminated composite. Design of optimal layup in single-objective is based on maximizing interlaminar strength of laminate. In this state, the optimization variable is stacking sequence. Multi-objective optimization is formulated with multiple objectives of maximizing interlaminar strength and minimizing weight and the total cost of composite compon...
