Abstract
In this paper, the effects of shunt capacitors place and distributed generation power plant on power loss reduction and voltage profile improvement are investigated. Objective function has three indices: active and reactive power loss and voltage profile. Simulation is done using MATLAB software by genetic algorithm to improve voltage profile and to minimize active and reactive power loss in addition to optimize multi-purpose function. Load distribution is performed according to Newton- Raphson method. After all, simulation is examined on two standard IEEE systems. Results show that locating distributed generation plants and capacitors in the system correctly plays an important role in reducing losses and improving voltage profile
