Abstract
Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori), a major cause of chronic gastritis, is strongly associated with the development of gastric and duodenal ulcers and has been linked with gastric adenocarcinoma.The risk for developing gastric cancer is related to the vacuolating cytotoxin gene (vacA ) and other H. pylori virulence genes. Species-specific 16S rDNA-based PCR methods have made it possible to detect non-cultivable bacteria in human biopsy specimens depending on conserved Helicobacter species-specific 16s rDNA sequences.The aim of the present study was to develop a PCR-based system using conventional technique enabling same-day diagnosis of H. pylori infection from endoscopically tissue gastric biopsy.
