Abstract The fatigue life of a bogie frame is essential for the operationality and service life of the entire high-speed train. However, during the operation of the train, it experiences external excitations resulting from track irregularities and flexibility of the track. These excitations affect vertical and lateral contact forces which are transmitted directly to the bogie frame and thus affect the fatigue life. Thus this study aims at proposing a method of predicting the fatigue life of high-speed bogie frames due to flexible tracks and track irregularities. The detailed study on the bogie frame has been conducted using finite element,Ansys workbench for static analysis and flexible track, Matlab for track irregularities and SIMPACK dynamics software for multibody system analysis.
