Abstract
The objective of this work is to treat kitchen waste to produce biogas through anaerobic digestion method without inoculum, this experiment were realized in laboratory scale using a batch mesophilic (37°C) anaerobic digester (4 liter) with a permanent agitation, the treated substrate was cut and ground (VS= 44,71 g/kg). Throughout the experiment, the variation of pH, total and volatile solids (TS, VS) were analyzed; the volume of biogas produced was measured by the water displacement method. The results shows that the pH was around neutrality (6,5 - 7,4), the amount of biogas produced was 1520 ml. Keywords: Biogas- Anaerobic digestion-Kitchen waste-Batch mesophilic conditions.
