Abstract
This article aims at analyzing the impact of the nuclear issue in the paradigmatic shift in the relationship between Brazil and Argentina, focusing on the transition period towards democracy in both countries. To accomplish this, data from official documents and a review of existing scholar production were used. The analysis focuses on the non proliferation regime and in the nuclear policies of both countries. There is analytical focus on the transition from rivalry to nuclear cooperation, including the proposition of a new concept to guide the bilateral relationship. The conclusion is that nuclear cooperation was paramount to the integration process.
