Abstract
Introduction Diet surveys are arguably the most important methods of nutritional assessment in children and adults. The 24-hour recall method (Questionnaire method) is the most frequently used during diet surveys at the field level. However, it involves the cumbersome process of tallying and compiling data and hence susceptible to errors due to the repetitive nature of the calculations. Objectives To develop a cross platform application for Android and Windows Operating systems for diet surveys at the field level and field test the application on 4 rural families. Methodology The present study was an experimental study to develop a Java based cross platform (Windows/Linux) application designed to run on a laptop/ tablet running Windows undertaken between May 2017 to June 2017 at the Statistical laboratory of the Community Medicine department of North Bengal Medical College.
