Abstract
Bacterial blight is the most severe disease in Pomegranate caused by Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. punicae. The diseased samples ofPomegranate showing typical symptoms of bacterial blight were collected for isolation of bacterium Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. punicae. The diseased plant materials were collected from five different locations viz Nevasa (XapI), Shrirampur (XapII), Sangamner (XapIII), Shirdi(XapIV) and Akole (XapV) belonging to Ahmednagar region of Maharashtra state. The Xanthomonas axonopodis isolates were collected frompredominant pomegranate growing areas to study the biochemical assays among the different isolates. All the five isolates were subjected to the biochemical tests for their identification, morphological and biochemical characteristic. For starchhydrolysis isolates were tested positive, XapIV isolate shown maximum starch hydrolysis XapI, XapII and XapIII shown moderate starchhydrolysis as compared to XapV which sh...
