Abstract
Sericulture, the techniques of raw silk production, is an agro-industry, playing an eminent role in the rural economy of India. The present study is an attempt economic analysis of mulberry and cocoon production in traditional area of Krishnagiri and Salem districts of Tamil Nadu. Data collected from 120 samples from traditional area. The result finally revealed that establishment of mulberry garden in Rs. 124260.07. Among the total cost, maximum cost was incurred towards drip irrigation Rs. 46166.66 (37.15%) and mulberry sapling Rs. 20192.55 (16.25%) followed by cost of farm yard manure Rs.17262.50 (13.89%), respectively. The second major maintenance cost of mulberry garden was Rs. 49061. The higher cost incurred farm yard manure was Rs. 19773 (40.30%).
