Abstract
Food safety is a significant and growing issue in the food processing industry. Food safety is one of the major concerns that have posed a threat to health of people. However, lack of awareness of safety and quality control issues on the part of food handlers in the organized and unorganized sector of the industries, lack of updated standards, shortage of technical skills and equipment, absence of responsible monitoring system, are several issues which require considerable attention. Hence, a study was designed to assess the awareness and adoption of food safety measures by women entrepreneurs in food enterprise of Tumkur (n=60) district. The result indicated that, even though higher percentage of awareness on food safety measures, adoption by the entrepreneurs was less. This result would help to turn up appropriate extension and research strategies to increase the level of awareness and adoption of food safety measures
