Abstract
The present study was carried out to determine the genetic diversity among sixty one rice genotypes by using D2 analysis. The results revealed that the traits such as 1000 seed weight, plant height, spikelet fertility percentage and number of filled grains per panicle together contributed 88.90 % towards total divergence. The cluster VI had highest cluster means for plant height, spikelet fertility (%), 1000 seed weight and grain yield per plant. The traits for number of productive tillers per plant and number of filled grains per panicle exhibited high means in cluster VII and cluster VIII respectively. The promising genotypes from these clusters could be used as parents in hybridization programme. Maximum intra cluster distance was recorded in cluster II (4.08) followed by cluster I (2.80) indicating the presence of some genetic divergence still among the genotypes within each of these clusters.
