Abstract
The present investigation was conducted during Kharif, 2018 at Indian institute of Rice Research (IIRR) Farm, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad. Sixty four Parental lines of hybrid rice were studied to assess character association and path analysis. The character association studies revealed that grain yield per plant showed positive significant association with number of productive tillers per plant, panicle length and number of grains per panicle. It indicates that these characters are important for yield improvement. Path analysis showed that number of grains per panicle exhibited the highest direct effect on grain yield followed by number of productive tillers per plant, test weight, panicle length, plant height and days to 50% flowering indicated that selection for these characters is likely to bring about an overall improvement in single plant yield directly.
