Abstract
The birds are an important constituent of the biodiversity. Narmada valley in Jabalpur encompasses number of wetlands in Madhya Pradesh which serve as ideal habitat for dependent species. However, there are numerous non wetland bird species as well living in the area. Due to urbanization and human populations explosion, the natural wildlife territory is displaced. Destruction of the natural habitat ultimately affects the status of avian species in that area and these species look into the alternate sources. Therefore, looking to these facts the research was being done to record avian bird diversity in non wetland areas of Jabalpur and 178 bird species belonging to 53 families and 12 orders were recorded. Passeriformes order was very rich with 105 species followed by Accipitriformes and Strigiformes with 20 and 10 species respectively with less number of representatives.
