Abstract
An investigation was carried out to evaluate the effect of various seed priming treatments on physiological and biochemical characteristics of marginal seed lot of horse gram under laboratory condition. A horse gram seed was imposed with the seed priming treatments by using Glutathione (0.05% & 0.1%), Ascorbic acid (0.5% & 2.5%) and compared with hydro priming whereas untreated seeds with germination of 70 per cent were served as control. From the experimental results, it was found that seed priming with Glutathione (0.05%) recorded significantly higher values for the speed of germination (20), germination (84 %), root length (17.6 cm), shoot length (7.9 cm), dry matter production (0.180g/10 seedlings), seedling vigour index I (2138) and seedling vigour index II (15) under laboratory test. Further, it was supported by recording higher protein content (17.32 %) and dehydrogenase activity (0.523). Thus, the present study clearly indicat...
