Abstract
Soil testing program is beneficial for formulating specific fertilizer recommendations. A study was carried out on soil fertility assessment ofKanker district and the nutrients status was compared among different soil types of the district to identify the limiting nutrients in them. Atotal 850 soil samples were taken covering entire district. The soils were slightly acidic to neutral in reaction ranging from 5.3 to 7.4 withmean of 6.33. It identifies significantly different mean pH among all the soil types. The mean EC of all the samples was 0.13 dS m-1 withvalues ranging from 0.06 to 0.19 dS m-1, which are suitable for all crops. The values of pH and EC followed the trend as Vertisols > Alfisols> Inceptisols > Entisols of the soil type. The SOC was significantly different among the different soil types and the mean varied from 0.31per cent in Entisols to 0.65 per cent in Alfisols. Alfisols have been identified as soils having higher ...
