Abstract Here an investigation regarding soil characteristics, LAI, nutrient uptake and physiological parameters under Melia dubia basedagroforestry system was carried out at the Agroforestry research block of Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural UniversityCampus, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad during kharif 2018. Results revealed that the soil was classified as sandy loam in texture, slightlyacidic in soil reaction, high content of organic carbon, medium in available nitrogen, high in available phosphorus and medium in availablepotassium. Significant difference was not observed in case of NPK uptake by the intercrops between the clones. Among the intercrops foxtailmillet has recorded higher amount of NPK uptake at harvest than other intercrops.
