Abstract
Maize is major predominant crop during Rabi in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh, cultivated in an area of 16,632 ha, out of totalcropped area of 75,273 ha with productivity of 5099 kg/ha. Farmers grow crop by adopting traditional method of Maize cultivation, afterharvesting of paddy fields are ploughed and sown maize seed behind the plough or dibbling in lines by wasting the soil residual moistureand time. To save the residual moisture zero tillage practice was introduced by DAATT Centre, Visakhapatnam District in collaborationwith Department of Agriculture. Zero tillage maize method is boon to farmers to save residual moisture and time catch the early market tofetch premium price due to harvest of crop earlier than normal method of maize cultivation.
