Abstract
An experiment on the effect of chemicals with insecticidal and acaricidal property on rearing performance of silkworm, Bombyx mori L. was conducted where in the pesticides were sprayed on mulberry and fed to the silkworms at 15 and 20 days after spray (DAS). The result revealed that increased mortality (%) rate of fourth and fifth instar was recorded in treatment fenpropathrin 30 % EC @ 0.3 ml/l (13.33 % and 34.40 %) followed by emamectin benzoate 5 % SG @ 0.4 g/l (10 % and 17.30 %) and chlorfenapyr 10 % EC @ 1.5 ml/l (2.22 % and 12.64 %), respectively at 15 DAS. At 20 DAS, fenpropathrin recorded maximum mortality (22.22 % and 19.66 % at fourth and fifth instar, respectively) followed by emamectin benzoate and chlorfenapyr both recording 2.22 per cent mortality in fifth instar. They also exhibited lesser larval progression, larval weight, extended total larval duration and minimum ERR percentage. However, pesticides, abamectin 1.9 % E...
