Abstract
This research aimed to evaluate the effect of preparatory tillage systems on growth and productivity of soybean thereby find out a suitable tillage combination for Vidarbha region of Maharashtra (India). The Experiment was conducted at Agronomy Farm, Department of Agronomy, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola during rainy season of 2016-17. Experimental results revealed that plant stand did not differ significantly under various preparatory tillage system and zero tillage. Further data revealed that deep tillage treatment PTtB (1ploughing + 2 tyne harrow + blade harrow) and PTR recorded maximum leaf area, leaf area index, dry matter accumulation, seed and stover yield. Conversely zero tillage treatment (ZT) recorded the lowest leaf area, leaf area index, dry matter accumulation, seed and stover yield.
