Abstract
An investigation was done to work out the marketing efficiency of marketing channel and to identify the constraints faced by farmers inproduction and marketing of Katarni paddy in the Banka district of Bihar. On an average it was seen that more the middlemen less themarketing efficiency of the marketing channel. Highest marketing efficiency was seen in direct selling of produce to the consumer. In attemptto identify constraints faced by the farmers in production it was found that major problem was the unavailability of labours at the peak periodfollowed by high cost of labours. It was mainly due to shift of labours to different places in search of jobs and income in fallow times. While inattempt to study the problems faced by farmers in marketing of katarni paddy it was evident that delay in cash payments by the middlemen wasthe first problem followed by market being far away from home forcing farmers to go through middlemen which bri...
