Abstract
Pigeonpea is the most prominent protein rich pulse crop in India. Fusarium wilt (FW) and sterility mosaic disease (SMD) are the mostsignificant biotic limitations for pigeonpea production. To combat this, it is necessary to develop high-yielding varieties that are resistant to FWand SMD. In this study, 351 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) developed for FW and SMD resistance (MARUTI X BSMR736 designated asPPRIL) were screened for FW and SMD disease reactions during the 2016-17 kharif season at ICRISAT, Patancheru. Among 351 RILsscreened for resistance to FW and SMD, 66 RILs displayed resistant disease reactions and 130 RILs displayed moderate resistance diseasereactions for both fusarium wilt and sterility mosaic disease. Overall, the genotypes revealed an average of 29.5% fusarium wilt diseaseincidence and 35.5% Sterility mosaic disease incidence with high broad sense heritability, GCV, and PCV.
