Abstract
Abstract A field experiment was conducted during kharip season of 2018-2019 at Instructional Farm, Department of Vegetable Science, Faculty of Horticulture, Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola to study the “Effect of spacing on growth and yield of tikhur (Curcuma angustifolia Roxb). The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with four replications and six different spacing treatments viz. T1 - 45 cm × 20 cm, T2 - 45 cm × 30 cm, T3 - 45 cm × 45 cm, T4 - 60 cm × 20 cm, T5 - 60 cm × 30 cm and T6 - 60 cm × 45 cm. In respect of growth parameters closer plant spacing i.e. higher plant density produced maximum plant height and leaf area index. Whereas wider spacing of T6 - 60 cm × 45 cm produced maximum number of leaves per plant, leaf length and leaf breadth. Treatment T6 - 60 cm × 45 cm was found superior in respect of rhizome yield per plant. While treatment T1 - 45 cm × 20 cm produced the maximum ...
