Abstract
Abstract A study for screening of 20 hirsutum cotton genotypes using biochemical parameters was carried out at Main Cotton Research station, NAU, Surat. 20 cotton genotypes were sown in field condition for biochemical analysis in rainfed and irrigated conditions. Biochemical analysis of cotton genotypes were carried from leaf samples viz. Reducing sugar, Free Amino acid, Proline and Total Phenol. Biochemical analysis of leaf samples showed that reducing sugar content significantly increase under stress in almost all the genotypes but in NDLH-1738, LRA-5166 and G.Cot-16 the increase ratio were less. Free amino acid was significant due to treatments as well as genotypes. Increase in proline content was significant due to treatments. The interaction between treatment and genotypes for proline was also significant. Total phenol in leaf was higher under rainfed condition compared to irrigated condition and was significant due to treatments...
