Abstract
Wood degradation by microorganisms upon accession requires the production of several enzymes including cellulase. This study shows the impact of cellulase treatment on the cedar wood physicochemical surface properties, characterized before and after treatment with the sessile drop technique. Furthermore, the physico-chemicals characteristics (hydrophobicity and electron donor/acceptor parameters) of the cedar surface were determined at different treatment times (15, 30, 45, 60, 75 and 90min). The obtained results showed that, before treatment, the cedar surface was hydrophobic and has a weak electron donor and acceptor characters. Then, the hydrophobicity decreases continuously until it reaches qualitatively the hydrophilicity after 30 min of treatment and quantitatively after 75 min. The cedar wood surface treatment with cellulase also revealed a significant evolution of the acid-base parameters. Indeed, the electron acceptor was ver...
