Abstract
Goal of the paper:  The study was designed to investigate the hindgut morphology in Melanogryllus desertus. The proposed methods: Crickets were cultured in laboratory. Mating females laid eggs in small petri dishes with their surface covered with moist cotton. After nine nymphal stages, adult crickets were dissected and their digestive tracts were quickly removed. By means of light and scanning electron microscopy procedures, morphologic structure of hindgut was determined in Melanogryllus desertus. Results: Hindgut is composed of three parts: ileum, colon, rectum. Ileum has tubercle structures. Epithelial cells of ileum are columnar and arranged as a single layer and its secretion is called cuticle. These cells are surrounded by circular muscles. Histologic structure of colon is similar to ileum. Columnar epithelial cells are arranged as a single layer and surrounded by a thin circular muscle layer. There are six rectal pads in rect...
